After tweeting a controversial picture of herself in the Cathay Pacific jump seats on route from Hong Kong to Beijing, Victoria Beckham, a.k.a Posh Spice returned back in Hong Kong on Wednesday 25 April, 2012, for a fly by appearance for the launch of her secondary fashion line, Victoria, Victoria Beckham.
The former Spice Girl, wife of hottie football superstar David Beckham, mother of 3 boys and 6 month old girl Harper, the original and best WAG and now celeb favoured fashion designer, met with local media for interviews and spent a good 10 mins with a throng of socialite fans during her brief stay in Hong Kong, before being whisked away for a private dinner with VIP’s at members only China Club.
Approx 400 guests turned out for the cocktail event held on the entire second floor of Lane Crawford in ifc Mall. As guests waited to catch a glimpse of the diminutive tabloid star, guests sipped Veuve Clicquot champagne, low-calorie vodka cocktails (appropriate for Ms. VB) and munched on mini ice-cream cones from I-Scream gelato (don’t think Ms. VB will be indulging in these).
With the throng trying to get into the VVIP section, it was hard to actually view the clothing..and perhaps it was devised that way, with most feedback overheard suggesting most were not very impressed with the secondary collection. Lots of loose-fitting dresses and a reoccurring cat motif perhaps developed when pregnant and waiting to pop? Such a departure from her original line which features form-fitting, sleek dresses.
As for the photo that caused a viral sensation, VB was on he way to Beijing when she posed as an airline crew member, with the caption reading: “Cabin crew prepare for landing! Welcome to Beijing!” A Cathay flight attendant sits next to her with a mock disapproving stare.
Cathay has since had to issue an apology for the “incident” and reaffirmed that the photo was not taken at any critical stage of the journey. Really?! C’mon, at least it shows Posh Spice has a slight sense of humour, which is a departure from her sour puss expressions… Hey- sour puss! Perhaps that is where the inspiration for this collection came from!
