Lacoste launched their hipster offshoot brand Lacoste L!VE with a rocking party at SML restaurant in Hong Kong’s hip Causeway Bay neighbourhood on Thursday 13 September, 2012.
Immediately entering the empty restaurant space I was struck by the 100’s and 100’s of branded helium balloons. I LOVE balloons, and their festive appearance brought out my immediate excitement. In fact, the new brand which caters to a younger modern demographic made sure there was plenty to distract young minds from the merchandise (although on display, it seemed an afterthought)..Lacoste seemed more intent on putting on ‘an experience’.
Guests munched on mini fish and chips, apple tartlets and sipped vodka red bulls and sex on the beach cocktails. With video games, skill testers, ping-pong table, ice cream cart and the obligatory photo booth (seems to be a requirement at all HK parties, due to Hk-ers being obsessed with photos – myself included) there was plenty of opportunity to entertain guests.
But if that was not enough to keep boredom at bay, in between DJ sets, Cantonpop band Chochukmo rocked out a few sets, in between BMX performances outside on the expansive deck.
The party launch tour of the edgier diffusion line has already held shindig’s in New York, Montreal and Singapore, with the Hong Kong version certainly an unqualified success – it was like a huge house party up high in the towers of Causeway Bay.
The new line can be purchased at speciality Lacoste L!VE stores at Harbour City and Times Square.
