M.A.C Chenman Colour Collection Launch

Hailed as one of the most exciting fashion and beauty photographers of her generation, Beijing-born Chen Man is the star behind MAC’s latest collaboration called “Love + Water.”

At an exclusive preview of the new collection, MAC held a small cocktail party at Elements Mall on Tuesday 28 February, 2012.

12 of Chen Man’s beautiful  I-D Magazine cover portraits were on display as lychee martini’s  were passed around (died electric blue, to match the collection colours) and Chen Man herself mingled with guests, sporting some John Lennon sunglasses, Princess Leia hair buns and some funky footwear attire.

The Chen Man for MAC “Love + Water” collection is described as radical, hyper-beautiful, and unique, using a palette of pinks and blues to represent love and water. The mineralised eye shadows have the (very Chinese) ying/yang symbol imprinted on them, which Chen says represent our male and female energies and the opposing forces in our lives.

After the official launch (conducted in Cantonese, English and Mandarin no less), guests were given the opportunity to get make-overs with the new collection at the MAC counter. I have to say, the neon bright pink lip glass looks amazing on – and not something I would have immediately gravitated towards. Called Force of Love lipglass, it is a matching color to the lipstick, although looks lighter and a little less dramatic, and has small silver sparkles. Will definitely be purchasing this on my next pay-day.

After lovely martini’s and makeover’s, guest departed with a MAC goody bag containing a I-D Magazine, Lipglass (alas not Force of Love) and black MAC eyeliner. Beyond happy with this result on a Tuesday night – a perfect girly evening.
